Illustration
When I Illustrate there's no better feeling. I pull ideas from my head, that would otherwise be lost within a endless stream of thoughts. The stories usually are a depiction of various life events, family, new people I've met, buildings, animals, things, experiences or even pictures that inspire me. I've never been able to categorize my style, so I just create what I feel like in that moment. The tools I use vary from paints, inks, pencils, digital, and even mixed media.
Sometimes I want to draw scenes. Other times I want to draw a character, caught in a timeless moment sort of like a photograph.
I would say that being an Illustrator is handwork though, you have to be willing to learn something new everyday and not lose yourself in the process. Because some of those stories, aren't always loving or even happy. They can be murky dark, sad and just all around gritty.
I find that, when stories take a turn, it is best to take on that emotion, and use it to fulfill a style then set yourself free of it so that in the long run it won't drain. As an illustrator you have to become the character in that moment in time. Research, as much as you can and sketch as many times as you need in order to get that one shot. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it needs to be the one that people will remember. It has to convey a message to be illustration. Once your work has drawn in the audience, involve them, tweak with their understanding and create a narrative with your hands. It will be your story that they remember. In this way you can inspire your audience no matter what you draw.
